A brand new airline has touched down in Southern Oregon providing low cost fares on flights to Southern California.
Avelo Airways is providing direct flights between Rogue Valley Worldwide-Medford Airport and Hollywood Burbank Airport — previously generally known as Bob Hope Airport, based on a press launch issued by the Medford airport.
The airline was to be welcomed Tuesday night with a standard water arch and speeches from Medford airport Director Jerry Brienza, Medford Mayor Randy Sparancino, Jackson County Commissioner Dave Dotterrer and airline executives.
Efficient this week, the airline will fly a 189-seat Boeing 737-800 between Medford and Southern California on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, based on an earlier Mail Tribune report. In line with the airline’s web site, one-way fares begin between $19 and $24 per passenger.
The airline made its inaugural flight April 28 from Hollywood Burbank to Charles M. Schultz-Sonoma County Airport, based on a information launch from the airline, and by late Might the airline will join Burbank to 10 regional airports, together with Eugene, Phoenix-Mesa, Arizona, and Bozeman Yellowstone, Montana.
